Tizen Native Display Layer – EFL, Architecture and Usage

EFL (The Enlightenment Foundation Libraries) were written to support the development of Enlightenment, and ultimately became a complete toolkit for making applications for desktops and especially lower powered devices like phones and tablets. The focus on achieving great effects, ease of programming and lean efficiency has attracted some major players to EFL, such as Samsung Electronics. EFL is being used in development for their next generation devices. Find out about EFL.
Carsten Haitzler, Samsung

Intro to the Tizen Community

The Tizen Community is made up of all of the people who collectively work on or with Tizen: Product contributors, kernel / distribution developers, release managers, quality assurance, application developers, users, vendors, and other contributors. Data gathered in the monthly metrics will form the basis for this presentation with details about membership, mailing list posts, bugs, IRC, active users and more. We’ll use these numbers as a basis to talk about various ways to participate in the community.
Dawn Foster, Intel

Tizen Architecture Overview

This presentation provides an overview of Tizen architecture and its core subsystems for the mobile platforms like handsets and tablets. The emphasis for Tizen architecture is WebAPI to ensure applications work across different architectures and different profiles. We will highlight what to expect in the source code for Tizen. We will provide our thinking on IVI and where Tizen would be going forward.
Sunil Saxena, Intel

Introduction to Tizen SDK

A Tizen application is based on the standard web technology such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and W3C widget packaging. With the support of rich Tizen Device API and Web UI framework, developers can create variety of applications which run in multiple devices. So, traditional web developers can leverage their knowledge in developing Tizen applications which utilize native device features. The Tizen SDK is a comprehensive set of tools for developing Tizen applications. It consists of IDE, emulator, installer, toolchain, sample code, documentation, and so on.

Upcoming Technologies: Wayland and oFono

We have a number of upcoming technologies that we plan to use in upcoming versions of Tizen. In this presentation, we’ll talk about two of those technologies: Wayland and oFono. Wayland is a display server protocol with compositing window managers to communicate directly with applications and video hardware. In this talk, we will discuss our current progress with Wayland and our future plans. The oFono open source telephony stack is a complete and simple solution for everything around telephony.
