Today the Linux Foundation announced that Ixonos is its newest member.
For some of us that maybe news, for some of us (me) it was a shock as I already thought they were a Member (?). Ixonos is a company that is offers services that range from concept design, consulting and project management to software development and maintenance. The company’s turnover in 2010 was 84.9 million euros and operating profit 5.3 million euros. Established in 1994, and it was listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 1999. The Group’s main office is located in Helsinki, in addition to which the Group has offices in Finland, China, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Slovakia and the U.S.
We met the company at the recent MeeGo Finland Summit where they showed of their Crackle – stereoscopic 3D User Interface and MeeGo TV based Demo.
Ixonos creates solutions for mobile devices and services for wireless technology suppliers and telecommunications companies, as well as mobile device and consumer electronics manufacturers. It has been actively involved in mobile Linux development efforts since 2006 and joins The Linux Foundation today to maximize its investment in the operating system. The company will collaborate with other leading vendors, users and developers to help advance Linux-based mobile platforms, including Android and MeeGo.
