iPhone 16 reveal comes a day early: AI features and potentially a new Apple Watch also expected at the next big showcase

Apple has revealed when it will show off the new iPhone 16 next month and it comes a day earlier than most expected. With the Harris/Trump Presidential debate set to take place on the Tuesday, and inevitably eating up all the column inches, Apple will host its showcase on a Monday (September 9th) for the the first time.

It is expected that there will be four variants of the new phone: Pro, non-Pro, and two larger Max models. The designs will likely be similar and they are also rumored to come in blue, green, white, black, and pink.

The Pro versions may have bigger displays and it’s possible the non-Pros could get the Action button. It is able to turn various setting on and off with just one click. Up until now, it has been exclusive to the pricier iPhones.

There have also been whispers of potential updated AirPods and Apple Watches being announced at this event.

Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16

One of Apple’s biggest selling points for the new iPhone 16 is its Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI features.

The company’s promo for the launch event features the phrase “It’s Glowtime”, referencing the swirling glow that appears when AI is used on the iPhone.

AI is expected to be a core part of the iPhone 16 due to its big focus in the marketing. However, it is worth remembering that AI is also included on the iPhone 15 Pro, so it is not exclusive to the new models.

When and how to watch the iPhone 16 reveal

Apple has confirmed that the reveal will take place on September 9 at its headquarters in California. It will also be streamed on the Apple website and Apple TV app from 10 am Pacific time.

It is expected that the iPhone 16 products will launched the day after (September 10). Pre-orders for Apple products usually begin on the Friday following the reveal and then go on sale a week after that, so we are going to assume a similar schedule will happen this year.

If this holds true this time around, pre-orders will then likely open on September 13, with the iPhone 16 going on sale on September 20.
