How to start Shattered Space, Starfield’s first big story expansion

The time has come for more Starfield content thanks to the Shattered Space DLC, adding a bit more horror to the space exploration experience.

If you’ve got all the downloads done and are looking to jump straight in, it’s actually a little confusing as to how to begin the Shattered Space campaign.

Here, we’ll explain how to start the Shattered Space DLC for Starfield so you can get right to the new quests and other included content.

How to start Shattered Space in Starfield

To begin the Shattered Space DLC, you must first have it downloaded and installed, as well as completing the introductory mission from the base game – One Small Step.

After this, you must now enter space and grav-jump to an orbit that is not used for any missions or encounters.

Once you do this, it will trigger a call that informs you about the Oracle space station which you must now dock at to progress.

If you’re still having trouble getting the initial call to happen, travel to a star system with no ships, no quest objectives, or random encounters, and it should do the trick.

Upon docking, you’ll essentially be full in the DLC now, making inroads into the first mission – What Remains.

One thing to keep in mind here though is that Bethesda recommends being at least level 35 for a comfortable playthrough, so even though you can technically go straight in after completing One Small Step, it’s not what you really want to be doing.

Additionally, to get the ‘full’ experience, we’d suggest both getting accustomed to the Rev-8 Rover that was introduced not too long ago via a free update, as well as meeting Andreja as she gives you backstory into House Vaa’run and you can be with her in the DLC also.
