How to get a horse in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

While Echoes of Wisdom is a big shakeup to the usual The Legend of Zelda format, there are some elements that have remained the same.

One aspect is the inclusion of horses, allowing Zelda to traverse the world faster, saving her legs from walking everywhere.

But, you don’t start out the game with one so here, we’ll reveal how to get a horse in Echoes of Wisdom so you know how to secure a trusty steed.

How to get a horse in Echoes of Wisdom

The first opportunity to get a horse in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is upon completing the Runaway Horse side quest.

Since this isn’t a part of the main quest, you can miss it for some time so we recommend heading straight for it when it becomes available.

As for when Runaway Horse does unlock, you will have to make your way through the Suthorn Ruins and then over to Hyrule Field where there should be Hyrule Ranch.

Here, you’ll need to talk to the man left of the farmhouse who tasks you to find the lost horse.

It is located on an island west of the Ranch and you’ll simply need to use a Trampoline Echo to make your way over to it.

After bringing the horse back, you will now have the ability to rent a horse from this Ranch.

However, since this is a ‘rental’ it’s essentially a temporary solution as you’re not able to summon it at will and instead, have to keep it close by in order to use it.

You can secure Zelda’s very own horse later in the game upon completion of another side quest called Impa’s Gift.

This side quest is available after the Hyrule Castle dungeon which unfortunately requires a number of hours playtime to get to.

This horse does have a summoning ability, so keep playing through the experience, ensure you complete this quest, and you’ll never have to rent a horse again.
