How long is Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC?

It’s always a slightly strange question when people ask how long a game actually is. It’s the old ‘how long is a piece of string’ question. But even though it is largely an impossible metric to say how long it will somebody to complete something – we all play our games in our own way of course, but it can be a handy indiicator as to just how much value for money you can expect to get out of a $30 extra purchase.

What we do know about Starfield already is that there was plenty to do. Granted, a portion of it was busywork and “mindless” exploration, but a lot of people love that sort of vibe and many, including myself, spent a good amount of time just sightseeing in Starfield, rather than just mainlining the main campaign and getting to “the end”

With that said, if mainlining is what you do best, we already know there are seven main campaign missions in the Shattered Space DLC. Taking that all into account let’s have a peep at how long it will take to “complete” Shattered Space.

How long is Shattered Space?

While there are only seven missions, and a few of these can be played in a different order depending on how you approach things at the start, so a lot still depends on how quickly you charge around and how many side quests you decide to take on.

If you were purely to do missions we think around 10 hours of new gameplay isn’t unrealistic. If however you immerse yourself in the world and play as Bethesda probably would prefer you to play, then you could comfortably double that playtime.

And of course, even after you have finished the missions, it’s not like it is Game Over. That is not really how Starfield works.

How big is Starfield’s Shattered Space?

Now in terms of download size Shattered Space is around the 12GB mark, making it comfortably Bethesda’s “biggest” ever DLC in terms of file size at least. The main game clocked in at over 125GB so make sure you have enough storage to deal with all the new stuff,
