When is Google I/O 2025?
The Google I/O 2025 event is taking place over two days, starting on May 20, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. There’s also a dedicated microsite for the event, packed with key details, a countdown timer, and a direct link for anyone who wants to register. Registration is currently open and free. As mentioned, it will be accessible both in person and online via live streams.
What to expect at Google I/O 2025
The event kicks off on May 20 at 10am PT (1pm ET) with a keynote speech from Google CEO Sundar Pichai. After that, there’ll be a developer-focused keynote, followed by a range of on-demand technical sessions. Google will also be live-streaming key developer product announcements from Shoreline on both days. The first day will be all about keynotes, while the second day will dive into workshops, breakout sessions, networking, and product demos.
As in past years, artificial intelligence is expected to be a major highlight. Google may unveil a new AI model under the Gemini branding, building on last year’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, which impressed with its massive two-million-token context window.
Android 16 is also likely to take center stage, bringing major software updates and user experience improvements. In addition, Google’s broader AI endeavors will be in the spotlight, with possible updates to Google AI Studio, open-source Gemma models, and NotebookLM, though details on these remain under wraps for now.
