Fortnite: How to get Boom Billy

It never seems like a full year between Fortnitemares as the unofficial start to the gaming holiday season has once again landed and is in full swing.

To tie in with Halloween this year Fortnite has collaborated with the horror movie franchise Saw seeing the famous big-screen character Billy the Puppet being turned into a skin and the new Boom Billy weapon arriving and claimable.

But how do you get Boom Billy, what is it and how do you use Fortnite’s latest weapon? Let’s have a look

How to get Boom Billy in Fortnite

Boom Billy can be obtained in a number of different ways in Fortnite during Fortnitemares, including the simplest – just finding one lying around in loot in chests and on the ground.

If you are looking for a guaranteed drop so you are not at the mercy of the RNG gods you can also get a Boom Billy by defeating Billy himself at the POI southwest of Freaky Fields.

How to use Boom Billy

Boom Billy works a lot like a grenade launcher in the game and it is classed as a Rare explosive. To use it you need to throw it at your target. Once deployed a tiny Billy the Puppet will sweep the area looking for your enemy and then lock on. Once locked on it will aim towards them and explode in their face causing 75 damage. If you are in the vicinity of the explosion, note that you too will receive damage so make sure you steer clear of the blast zone.

Although Boom Billy comes in a pack of three you can only have one active at any one time, so you can’t just lay down some shock and awe in one particular zone.

When does Fortnitemares end?

Despite a slightly later start than we expected, Fortnitemares 2024 is due to end on November 2nd, ahead of the new season of Fortnite although items such as the Billy skins will start to disappear over the next day or so.
