Fortnite Crew: Major changes to Battle Royale’s subscription pass – what it means for you, plus news of Battle Pass price increase

If you have ever been tempted into a monthly Fortnite Crew subscription then this is for you. Epic Game’s subscription service that netted you Battle Passes and monthly cosmetics for everybody’s favorite Battle Royale is getting an unexpected boost, at a more unexpected price freeze.

In a world where everybody is so used to reading about price increases, “in order to maintain our level of service” blah blah blah while creaming in millions, yes you did read that correctly. Fortnite Crew subscribers are going to be receiving a fair bit more, without it costing an extra penny. Go figure? The Matrix is broken.

From December 1st Fortnite Crew subscribers will not only receive the Fortnite goodies but will now start to receive both Lego Fortnite and Music Passes as well at no extra cost. Here’s what the sub will now get you on the first of every month.

  • All Seasonal Battle Passes
  • 1,000 V-Bucks
  • Latest Lego Pass
  • Latest Music Pass
  • Fornite Crew cosmetics
  • Rocket Pass Premium for Rocket League

The price for Fortnite Crew membership will remain at $11.99/£9.99

In a post on X, the official Fortnite account stated:” Starting December 1, the Music, LEGO, and Fortnite OG Passes will also be included in your Fortnite Crew subscription for the same price as before.”

There doesn’t seem to be any catch. There are some tweaks to the terms though with the FAQ page saying,

Here’s the way a Fortnite Crew subscription currently works: when a new Battle Royale Battle Pass goes live, you can unlock and claim premium rewards from the pass as long as it is live, even if you unsubscribe from Crew during that time.

For new subscribers beginning December 1, 2024, at 5 AM GMT/UTC, premium rewards on the Battle Pass will only be available to claim if your Fortnite Crew subscription is active. This means if you cancel Crew, you’ll be able to claim premium rewards from the Battle Pass until the end of your current billing period and not for the remaining duration of the pass.

For players who are currently subscribed to Fortnite Crew or subscribe before December 1, 2024, there will be no change to how you claim premium rewards on the Battle Pass. If you cancel after December 1, 2024, and resubscribe after your subscription has lapsed, you’ll be considered a new subscriber, and claiming premium rewards on the Battle Pass will require an active Fortnite Crew subscription.”

Read that carefully. If you dip in and out of Crew membership then things are going to change considerably, but if you are locked in every month, the only difference you should notice is that you get more stuff.

V Bucks Battle Pass increase

The price of the Battle Pass for the Battle Royale is also going up 50 V Bucks from 950 to 1,000.

Whatever is going on there there will have been meeting after meeting to work out how to maximise profit, but for now, we won’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
