Epic Games is trying its hand at entering the tactical shooter market through Fortnite Ballistic with the mode borrowing a lot of mechanics from competitors that are on the market right now.
There are some deviations from the formula though with one bit change being the introduction of Flex Gadgets.

Fortnite Ballistic Flex Gadgets: A full list
Flex Gadgets in Fortnite Ballistic are a utility that is unique to your character, no other player on your team can have the same one.
These all offer something a little different, whether that be to help push the opposition team with an offensive play, or to help keep you alive during those rounds you’re trying to save Credits on.
You’ll pick this Flex Gadget during the pre-game phase and once you’re starting the rounds, you’ll be able to purchase it during the buying phase.
There are a total of five Flex Gadgets currently available in Fortnite Ballistic and here is the full list:
- Frag Grenade Kit: An explosive device that can damage foes or flush them out of cover.
- Bubble Shield Kit: Drop this next to you or your allies to create a Bubble Shield that blocks projectiles and thrown grenades for a brief period.
- Proximity Mine Kit: Place this on the ground and it will trigger an explosion when approached by an enemy.
- Impulse Grenade Kit: Launches players (both friendly and hostile) away when triggered.
- Recon Grenade Kit: Toss this at an area to potentially reveal the locations of nearby foes.
Which is the best Flex Gadget in Fortnite Ballistic?
While each player can pick a Flex Gadget, if you want the best one for yourself, you’ll need to be quick on the draw.
We believe that the best Flex Gadget is Recon Grenade Kit as this essentially reveals where your enemies are, if your aim is good that is.
You’re then able to plan your strategies accordingly, whether you’re on offense or defense, and pivot to either Rift Point depending on how many enemies you reveal.
Shortly behind the Recon Grenade Kit, we’d suggest choosing the Proximity Mine Kit. This is because you’re able to throw this onto any surface in the map and if an enemy gets close, they’ll be hit with an explosion that does 50 damage.
You can throw this down on the Rift Point or use it to block off some lanes to fend off attackers and potentially reveal where they’re likely going to come from.
It’s also the only Flex Gadget that can be picked up and used again so if you don’t like its current placement, you can switch it up pretty fast.
