The Diablo IV crew has, no doubt, been busy eagerly watching (and potentially even playing) Path of Exile 2 of late and the lack of an announcement of a traditional Holiday-time event has not gone unnoticed.
While Activision Blizzard itself is yet to confirm or deny that one will happen, according to sources on Reddit, notifications for a new Diablo IV Christmas-themed event have started arriving to players.
Called Slay Ride to Hell, the notification features a particularly grim-looking Santa Clause, a Rudolph mount, and a festive Treasure Goblin.
Why this has gone out before any official PR is unclear – maybe a mistake, or it might be complete AI-derived BS.
We are going with the former and think that Slay Ride to Hell could well be a thing.
You all asked for it (repeatedly and angrily)

When is Diablo IV’s Slay Ride to Hell Event?
According to the graphic that’s gone out the event seems to run between December 17th and December 31st – so a nice little fortnight period leading up to New Year.
This is less than a week away so if it is not to turn out to be a lump of coal in the stocking, Blizzard is going to have to be announcing it soon.
Diablo’s festive, and indeed any, events are always worth jumping in on as there is nothing quite like seeing Sanctuary bedecked with snow and Christmas decorations.
So, if only for that reason we hope this pans out to be a true mini-leak and not somebody’s idea of hilarity. Either way, we will know soon enough.
It is probably a fair bet that Diablo IV might be looking to tempt back any players who may have strayed over to Path of Exile’s successful Early Access launch. With the two games being cut from very similar cloth there is bound to have been a few testing out how green the grass is on the other side of Hell.
