The Black Ops 6 Beta is fast approaching the end of Weekend One and with one more planned before launch many players will be hoping the issues with Packet Burst and Packet Loss are fixed before even more people join the melee.
Packet Loss and Packet Burst errors have made many games unplayable over the past couple of days but can you do anything about them?
Can you fix the Packet Burst error in Black Ops 6?
The first weekend has been plagued for lots of Operators by the dreaded Packet Loss and Packet Burst icon appearing on the right-hand side of the screen, usually immediately after respawning. From there you may be able to still move about but will notice you can’t collect anything and other players will be stationary. Then, if you are ‘lucky’ the game will kick back into action, usually with you dead wherever you respawned. Once you respawn again, you could again be greeted with Packet Loss or Packet Burst and the whole cycle repeats.
Worse, we have had several crashes out of the game taking us to a black screen that fails to load anything and results in a trip to the Task Manager to force quit the game.
While accepting that this is a beta players are finding it frustrating that they are on a time limit to get to a certain level before the Beta ends but finding sessions frequently disrupted.
To rule out the possibility of the problem being at your end you should:
- Play using an ethernet cable if possible
- Make sure nobody in the house is streaming Lord of the Rings in 8K on Netflix
- Check the Server Status on Activision’s page to make sure there are no problems there.
In reality though many think that the issue is down to the game-streaming textures arriving from the CoD servers. There are reports that changing your VRAM setting from 70 to 80 or changing the Texture Resolution quality to high or low will fix things but this may work only temporarily, albeit any relief from the error is a blessing.
All the data from the Beta weekend will be gathered by Treyarch, analyzed and servers tweaked ahead of next weekend’s Open Beta session.
