Amazon Fire TV Cube with Alexa support now available for pre-order

Amazon is never afraid of making a splash with new gadgets, and the company has seldom failed (the Amazon Fire Phone didn’t work). But the Alexa-enabled Echo line of products and the Fire TV range of products are doing wonders for Amazon. The company has now merged the two of its commercially most successful products into one – the Fire TV Cube. Yes, the hypothesis we made back in April has turned out true! Amazon has launched the Fire TV Cube, and it indeed is a fusion of Amazon Echo and the Fire TV.

Amazon Fire TV Cube

The Fire TV Cube is easily the most powerful media streaming device in Amazon’s current lineup. It houses a 1.5 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor, with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage. The Fire TV Cube has Dolby Atmos 7.1 channel sound and supports 4K and HDR-10 content. It also supports 802.11ac WiFi and has an HDMI 2.0a port, an Ethernet jack, an infrared port, and a micro USB port. On the top of this cube-shaped device are four buttons: a mute button, an Alexa button, and two volume controls.

The Fire TV Cube comes with a built-in speaker and eight far-field microphones with ‘always listening’ approach. This literally means it can do just about everything an Amazon Echo device can do.

The Fire TV Cube will be able to control your television through its HDMI CEC connection. So even if your TV is turned off, you can simply say “Alexa, turn on my television” (or ask questions, get news, traffic, and weather updates) and your TV will flare into life and blend into your command. No more hunting down and shuffling of remote controls. With Fire TV Cube, you can now control your TV hands-free. It also works with smart home gadgets like thermostats, lights, locks, and security cameras.
The Fire TV Cube will be launching in the US first, for the pre-order price of $120. Amazon will begin shipping the device on 21 June, and if you buy one before July 1st, you will also get a $10 credit for Prime Video. Click on the link below to pre-order Fire TV Cube at Amazon.
