Icarus: Major DLC announces Great Hunts DLC

Developers behind DayZ announce the Great Hunts DLC for their multiplayer survival game, Icarus.

RocketWerkz, the studio behind Icarus, made a post on X detailing the content included in the upcoming expansion.

A specific release date has yet to be revealed but Great Hunts is available to wishlist on Steam and is “coming soon” as an upcoming 2025 game.

New monsters with branching campaigns will be available in the upcoming expansion

The Great Hunts DLC is the third major expansion to come to the game since Icarus launched on December 3, 2021. Since its launch, there have been 14 downloadable updates released on Steam.

The latest expansion will bring three initial hunts: Quarrite on Olympus, Gargantuan on Styx, and Rimetusk on Prometheus, and other additional hunts planned for future updates. It’s not exactly Monster Hunter, but fans can look forward to unique boss encounters in Icarus and it’s expansions.

Upon completion, hunts will reward new bosses to fight, each with a unique set of abilities. Players will also be able to net new experimental weapons to upgrade in the orbital Biolab.

The expansion is also set to expand on branching campaigns. On the Steam page, it reads: “Your choices through the campaigns affect creature spawns, boss abilities, and unlock unique equipment blueprints to help during the hunt”.

As one of the best Steam games available, the expansion brings more of what fans love about Icarus. New content entices fans back, but RocketWerkz confirms Icarus remains accessible to new players, with core mechanics updated for free.
