The Tizen Developer Conference took place this year in Shenzhen, China. Hyogun Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics and Co-chair of Tizen Technical Steering Group presented the first keynote of the event. Asian developers learnt first hand what tizen was and the upcoming opportunities that it brought them. China has one of the fastest growing markets and Tizen could be a good fit for its diverse Industry.
Why Tizen? Android and iOS dominate the market, but the world is now changing. The world is saturated and there is no need to just make just your phone smart, we also need smart home devices like refrigerators, vacuums, washing machines etc. Samsung has confirmed on multiple occasions that they will be using Tizen as part of their Smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) strategy, the tool used to connect over 25 Billion devices by 2020.
Tizen is here and it works was a key message, as Tizen has shipping products. In the keynote Hyogun Lee discusses Tizen 2.4 and 3.0 Features, Microprofile for IoT, and also shows off the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch for the first time.
