Verizon Wireless, a US based network provider / carrier has started rolling out an update for the Samsung Gear S2, software version R730VVRU1BPC1. The updates is said to contain the newest security patches and bug fixes, which include a random clock freezing problem that has plagued many users. Smartphone compatibility has also been expanded with the update as now Android Lollipop, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and even iOS phones running versions 8.4 and above are supported.
This Over the Air (OTA) update is for the standard Gear S2 and there is no news at present when the 3G version will receive its update.
Check software version
The Gear S2 costs $349 to buy on Verizon Wireless but you can also get it for $299 with a two-year agreement. The Gear S2 Classic, which is a slightly more refined looking smartwatch, is $349 also with a 2-year contract.
