Verizon, one of the big mobile and data wireless carriers in the US, is currently rolling out a new software update for the Gear S3 and Gear S3 Frontier smartwatches. The updates are for Tizen 3.0.0.1 and, from the feedback we’ve received, it looks like the updates also contain the recent battery bug fix that was released by Samsung.
This is the Gear S3 value pack update which has plenty of goodies for you guys including improved heart rate monitoring accuracy and nutrition management for workouts, the ability to create contacts and events on the Gear S3, and the ability to view and edit checklists as well as video and web reminders created on their synced smartphone on the watch. Widgets have also had a makeover and look cleaner with more information displayed. There is lots more to check out so get it now as it’s a 254.39MB download.
Software versions currently being downloaded are R775VVRU1BQJ8 for the Gear S3 Classic andR765VVRU1BQJ8 for the Gear S3 Frontier. This naming convention seems a little confusing as the T-mobile Gear S3 update and the Gear S3 UK updates are now on firmware Cxxx – and it seems Verizon wants to stick to Bxxx.
