Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has teased a new product launch on X, formerly Twitter. In the post, he says, “Get ready to meet the newest member of the family.”
As with most Apple teases, there’s not much information provided, nor a hint at what’s next. However, Mark Gurman, Apple Insider, believes this would be the newest addition to the iPhone roster.

For quite some time, it’s been predicted and anticipated that Apple would launch the next iPhone SE model. The SE has typically been the entry-level device in the lineup, offering a cheaper alternative. It first launched in 2016 and was followed up with two other models in 2020 and 2022.
The new iPhone SE is expected to include Apple’s A18 chip, found in the iPhone 16. This will give it access to Apple Intelligence, the company’s integrated AI software. A USB-C port will also be used to abide by EU regulations. It is also rumored to include an OLED display and will move to Face ID, rather than Touch ID. It has also been rumored that it could include a powerful 48MP camera.
On X, Gurman predicts that Apple could be rebranding the SE by using the phrase “newest member of the family”.
However, some responses to Gurman’s claim are that it’s either “too much hype” for what’s effectively a budget phone. Apple usually launches its next big version in September.
iPhone SE 4 could be next on the Apple refresh lineup
Apple has recently been revamping its lineup, with launches including the M4 Macs. It’s not fully known if Apple plans to launch much else outside of the iPhone SE 4. Rumors circulating online point to potential refreshes of the MacBook Air and iPad, but again, nothing is confirmed.
The iPhone SE 4 did appear very briefly on a French retailer’s website. There was no real information attached, but it’s one of the first retailer acknowledgments of its existence – even if it was an accident.
