Samsung’s next Tizen based smartphone which is going to be the Z2 is expected to be launched tomorrow in India where Samsung will also be announcing their flagship Galaxy Note 7 and the mid range Galaxy A9 Pro smartphone in the country. With curiosity taking the better of us, we have now stumbled up on some of the leaked specifications of the Z2 confirmed by the folks over at Sammobile. Earlier, we have reported that the pricing of the Z2 is likely to be INR 4,499 (~$70) and that the smartphone will be bundled with a Reliance JIO sim preview offer for unlimited Voice calls and 4G internet for 90 days.
The Z2 will continue to use a 3.97 inch LCD display like the Z1, boasting a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The rear camera has been upgraded to a 5MP one while the front still features a VGA camera. All the processing will be handled by a 1.5 GHz processor of unspecified architecture and core count but is most likely going to be an Exynos one instead of Spreadtrum from its predecessor. Both the Internal storage and RAM space have been beefed up to 8GB and 1GB respectively (which happened to be the major shortcoming on the Z1). The smartphone features all the essential connectivity features like LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Glonass and a Micro USB 2.0 port. The smartphone will be powered by a mere 1500 mah battery just like on the Z1 and will be running on Tizen v2.4.0.1 out of the box.
Samsung are also reported to be expanding the launch market for Tizen with Z2 that includes Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkey, South Africa, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. This should help Samsung to get a diverse set of users and put a word about the OS into more mouths.
In addition to the specification details, we have also spotted the import listings of some of the Z2’s hardware like touchscreens, housing, motherboard, battery cover and even a Router Jig (probably for testing) that have made their way into India on the 6th of August. The import listing details that the Z2 will be sold in three color variants- Gold, Red and Black.
More details to follow once the Z2 is launched. Stay tuned!.
