We have been looking forward to the release of the Samsung Z2 for some time now and confirmed back in March that it would in-fact be launched later this year, so we are really excited for a new smartphone to join the Z1 and Z3. The actual event will take place on 23rd August (tomorrow) in India. The device will also be launched in Africa and Southeast Asia markets but there are no time scales for that at the moment. The Z2 has already been shown off, kind of unofficially, at the Galaxy Note 7 launch in Kenya to select media partners.
Today, press images of the Z2 have been found online by GalaxyClub and confirm that this will definitely be a 4G Smartphone and will appeal to the budget smartphone / featurephone consumer. Specification wise we are looking at a 3.97-inch WVGA display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 4G connectivity, 5-megapixel main camera, a VGA front facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, 1,500 mAh battery, and Tizen 2.4.0.4 preloaded. No this is not Tizen 3.0 like we have been saying for a while now.
The Z2 is already slated to be distributed in 8 countries that include: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.
