Samsung‘s push into blockchain is getting aggressive. The company’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S10, is coming with an integrated “Blockchain KeyStore“. Samsung SDS, a Samsung subsidiary that deals in enterprise IT solutions, has now launched a blockchain accelerator.
Called Nextledger Accelerator, the platform was unveiled during the IBM annual conference in San Francisco last week. Samsung promises it to improve the function of Hyperledger Fabric, a corporate blockchain platform created by the Linux Foundation using the IBM source codes.
Samsung Nextledger Accelerator
Nexledger Accelerator, as the name suggests, is a platform designed to quicken the speed of blockchain processing. It will provide businesses with an integrated solution to reduce expenses. It can also manage digital financial transactions and data exchange. The technology is compatible with IBM‘s open source platform for enterprises.
Samsung SDS says it will soon make the Nextledger Accelerator’s White Paper public, so that many outside developers could use it. The technology road map and testing kit will be shared in GitHub, a site where developers share information on the latest technologies.
Samsung SDS is a member of the Hyperledger Alliance formed by IBM. The duo promise to further strengthen their partnership to stimulate the growth of hyper ledger fabrics.
Samsung SDS is South Korea’s first IT service provider to exceed the 10 trillion won threshold in sales. The Samsung subsidiary posted 13.3 trillion won (US$11.80 billion) in sales in 2018.
Samsung Electronics, meanwhile, is holding the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco in two days. The February 20 event will see the company take wraps off its next flagships, the Galaxy S10 lineup. A few more devices, including the Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Fit, and possibly the foldable Samsung smartphone as well, are also expected at the event.
