Samsung Electronics has held an official event for the Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch in Russia, held in Moscow. The S3 has already been available to pre-order , but you can now buy it directly from Samsung at either their online store, with free delivery, or collect in in person in store. Both the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier (non-LTE) are available priced at 24 990 rubles.
Both devices feature the same hardware and only differ cosmetically. These are rugged wearable devices that are made from tough 316L stainless steel and certified IP68 dust and water resistance. You get Integrated GPS, which means that you can leave your smartphone at home whilst you go for a run. Not only can you track your route, but you can also use the Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) to record your heart – Adding up to some useful data that can be looked at in Samsung’s S Health application.
For connectivity, we have WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Gyro, Accelerometer, Altimeter, and a Barometer. The S3 has a 1.3″ 360×360 round display and powered by an Exynos 7270 dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM, and 4GB storage for your music and picture files.
There is support for Samsung Pay using either NFC for newer payment terminals or MST for older magnetic strip terminals. Samsung rate the device for up to 4 days battery usage, but typically I can squeeze up to 3. Another great feature for the S3 is that you can make and receive phone calls from your wrist, whilst paired to a smartphone, and therefore no need to get your phone out of your pocket. You can customise the S3 to you hearts content as it supports standard 22mm watch bands and also you can download loads of watchfaces. Your watch can be an extension of your style.
