Samsung has been very silent about their next Tizen based Samsung Z2 smartphone until now. We had earlier reported that the Z2 would be unveiled during the Note 7 launch event in India which took place on August 11th. However, that didn’t turn out to be true. Now, Samsung India have started sharing invites to media and partners for an event scheduled on 23rd of August. Although Samsung seem to be tightlipped about the product being launched at the event, sources suggest that Z2 is the smartphone being unveiled at the event.
There is not much details left for us to know about the handset as most of the features and specifications have been leaked already and even the price of the smartphone is expected to be Rs. 4,499 (~$70). The smartphone is expected to sport a 3.97 inch LCD screen, a quadcore 1.5 GHz processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of onboard storage and room for expansion via a micro SD card slot, 5 MP primary camera with beauty mode filter and secondary VGA front facing camera. Usual connectivity features like Bluetooth and WiFi will also be present along with 4G Lte support with VoLTE feature.
Samsung might be bundling the smartphone with a Jio sim unlocked with the preview offer to use 90 days of unlimited voice calls and 4G data. The smartphone is also expected to come with an S-Bike mode which Samsung initially showcased with the J series handset. This could mean that the Z2 would also have support for NFC. The Z2 is expected to run on Tizen 2.4 OS despite silly rumors suggesting that it will be on Tizen 3.0 out of the box.
We will be attending the launch event so please stay tuned for all details regarding the launch of the Z2.
