The next wearable flagship from Samsung is the Gear S4 or, as we have reported previously, it might be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch? Either way the Internal code name for the device is Galileo with a model number SM-R800. Keep in mind that the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier carried model numbers SM-R770 and SM-R760 respectively, this would suggest the R800 is indeed the successor.
Now, a high profile leaker, by the name of Ice Universe from China, has posted on the Weibo social network that the Gear S4 will ship with a bigger battery than the previous Gear S3 model. We could be looking forward to a larger capacity of 470mAh, which is 90mAh larger than the Gear S3’s 380mAh. This is an increase of 24%. These figures might not seem that impressively first, but you have to keep in mind that many Gear S3 users have already enjoyed 3-4 days of battery use, many to the envy of current Wear OS users. A larger battery could bring with it not only longer battery life, but also an improved feature list, like Integrated Bixby AI Integration.
When will the Gear S4 or Galaxy Watch Launch?
Traditionally Gear devices launch at IFA and we would also expect the same this year, at IFA 2019, held in Berlin, Germany. We can still not rule out an event launching both the Galaxy Note 9 and the Gear S4.
All this information is still a rumour at the moment, but the launch is potentially only a few months away. Keep following IoT Gadgets for all the S4 news 🙂
