Popular Swiss jewelry and luxury watch-maker de Grisogono had recently teamed up with Samsung to launch a luxury edition of the Gear S2 smartwatch (because the Rose Gold variant didn’t seem expensive enough). The partnership between the two companies seems to be working out well, as a recent report from Korea Herald states that de Grisogono will be teaming up with Samsung again to launch the Gear S3 luxury edition smartwatch next year. Rumors say that de Grisogono will most likey be unveiling the smartwatch at the Baselworth 2017 just like the Gear S2 which was unveiled last month at Baselworth 2016.
The news comes from one of de Grisogono’s official who was quoted saying to Korean Herald at Conde Nast International Luxury Conference, Seoul as,
“We are currently collaborating with Samsung to develop its next-generation smartwatch,”
This is more or less a sort of confirmation that Samsung indeed are working on the Gear S3 and if rumors are to be believed, the launch of the next generation Tizen based smartwatch could happen at IFA 2016 in September. Since the official from de Grisogono was tight lipped about sharing any technical details of the Gear S3, we might have to wait a bit longer to hear more exciting news about this upcoming smartwatch.
The official also added that their current luxury edition of the Gear S2 has been doing well in sales averaging at 100 units per month. This variant of the Gear S2 has all the similar tech as the regular Gear S2. However, being priced at a whopping $15,000 this luxury edition Gear S2 features a Rose Gold rotating bezel and houses in over 100 black and white diamonds and the strap is made of black galuchat (shark skin).
