Samsung Galaxy Watch Active goes on sale worldwide

Samsung‘s newest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active, is on sale now. The wearable was launched alongside the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy S10 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco last month. Galaxy Watch Active is supposed to be the successor to the Gear Sport, Samsung’s fitness-focused watch from 2017.

A watch for fitness buffs

Samsung has surprisingly ditched the rotating bezel in this watch, which makes navigating a bit more clumsy. To make it worse, Samsung is also offering a smaller screen. However, the watch compensates with features on offer. Samsung is focusing more on health and fitness-related functions with the Galaxy Watch Active. From blood pressure monitoring to guided breathing, the watch offers some really cool features.

As for the specs, the Galaxy Watch Active features a 1.1-inch circular AMOLED display of 360 x 360 resolution. It is powered by the dual-core Exynos 9110 processor, coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB storage space. The watch runs Tizen 4.0.0.3 out of the box. For power, the watch houses a 230mAh battery, which should offer some decent endurance, comparable to previous Samsung smartwatches.

Additional features include military grade build, 50 ATM water resistance, built-in GPS, and NFC support. The watch packs all the basic sensors such as accelerometer, gyro, barometer, and ambient light sensor. It also supports some popular third-party apps like Under Armour, Spotify and Strava.

The Galaxy Watch Active is up for sale at a relatively affordable price of $199.99. You can purchase the watch from the Samsung online store, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and a few other retail stores (links below). It is available in Silver, Black, Rose Gold, Sea Green color options.
