The Galaxy Watch 3 has officially come out after Samsung Unpacked 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no-one was able to attend the event in person. To compensate, the event was streamed live on Samsung’s website, Samsung’s YouTube channel and on Facebook.
One of the main features that we can see (again) is the physical rotating bezel. The last time we saw a bezel on a Samsung smartwatch was back in 2018 on the Galaxy Watch.
More Galaxy Watch 3 Features!
The smartwatch comes in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. These have a 1.2-inch and a 1.4-inch screen respectively. Compared to Samsung’s older smartwatches, the buttons on the side resemble a classic watch more. When it comes to battery sizes, the smaller variant has a 247mAh whereas the larger one has a 340mAh battery. Like many on the market, this smartwatch is fairly resistant. It has IP68 water and dust resistance as well as a military-grade certification.
This is the first of Samsung’s smartwatches to have 8GB of storage which should be beneficial to people who like music but want to leave the phone at home. For both the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and LTE variants of the smartwatch, you get 1GB of RAM.
The Galaxy Watch 3 runs Tizen OS 5.5 which adds new features such as hand gestures. If you have an incoming call but don’t want to take it, just shake your hand and the call will be ignored. It’s a good way to make sure you stay on track whilst working. As well as this, this smartwatch has the newest watch faces – which we expect to come to the older smartwatches after time.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has fall detection. This feature sends your emergency contacts your GPS location if you fall and do not get up within 60 seconds. As well as this, you’re also able to measure the oxygen saturation in your blood. This could be good for recording and potentially bringing it up to your doctor if you find that you have an issue.
Unfortunately, the ECG feature is not enabled out of the box as Samsung is getting the necessary regulatory approvals in many countries. Hopefully, we will see the feature before the next Samsung smartwatch makes its debut.
The Smartwatches Colours
When it comes to style, the smartwatch comes in three colours. Thee colours are dubbed Mystic Bronze, Mystic Silver and Mystic Black. So far, the smartwatch will go on sale very soon. The more expensive Titanium version, however, is expected later this year. The 41mm variant of the Galaxy Watch 3 is available in the colours Mystic Bronze and Mystic Silver whilst the 45mm variant come in Mystic Black and Mystic Silver.
The 41mm variant has a starting price of $400 whereas the 45mm variant will have a starting price of $430 – $30 more.
