Samsung Galaxy S9 Rumors: Images, Features, Specs, Release date and more

Samsung is all set to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S9 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on February 25. There’s still a month to the mega event, and of course to the introduction of the much anticipated Samsung smartphone. Though there’s very little official word on what to expect from the phone, there some unofficial Information to be had 😉 One thing is sure that it will set the bar for Android flagships for the rest of the year. Why are we saying so? Have a look.

Design

The Galaxy S9 is not expected to sport any radical changes in design from the Galaxy S8, which itself has a stunningly beautiful design. More or less, the Galaxy S9/S9+ will look similar to its predecessors, featuring the same curved OLED display.

Camera

The Galaxy S9+ will feature dual f/1.5 and f/2.4 12-megapixel rear-cameras. The Galaxy S9, on the other hand, will have a single f/1.5, 12-megapixel rear-camera. Both the devices will feature a 8MP front camera. The devices are expected to come with Samsung’s new ISOCELL camera sensors. The 3-stack fast readout sensor will allow cameras to record video in Full HD resolution at a whopping 480 frames per second. This means that super-slow-mo will also be supported at a high-resolution. The sensor also boasts a feature called Super PD, which Samsung hints will give smartphones faster autofocus speeds for its cameras. The invite to Samsung’s Galaxy S9 launch event teases camera improvements, stating that it’ll “redefine the way you share your moments.”

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ will feature an identical battery to the Galaxy S8/S8+, 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh respectively. However, the devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, compared to the Snapdragon 835 chipset in the S8. Claims are that the new processor will bring at least 30% improvement in the battery life department.

Models

The Galaxy S9 will be available in two versions – one with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, and the other with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM. The S9+ will be available with 6GB RAM and a storage choice of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. All the models will come with a dedicated Bixby AI assistant button and will support wireless charging. The devices will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

Release Date

As mentioned earlier, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at MWC on February 25. The launch event titled as “Galaxy Unpacked Event” will kick-off at 5 p.m GMT. The event will be streamed live on Samsung’s official Galaxy S9 website and its YouTube channel. The commercial availability of the devices is tipped to start on 16 March, with pre-orders expected to begin on 1 March.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is certainly one of the best Android smartphones to date. The device literally needs very-little improvement, fixing, or upgrading. To be precise, the awkwardly misplaced fingerprint sensor was the only notable blemish on the phone. Samsung has rectified the fingerprint sensor flaw in S9 (rumors suggest it will be centered on the back). However, against all these talk of any negativeness, one simply can’t ignore the fact that S9 is going to be one hell of a smartphone and we can’t wait to get our hands on to it.
