In August we checked out the Roto VR Explorer chair, a seat specifically designed to increase virtual reality immersion by thrashing you around as you play. However, It did look a bit like a Terminator’s dentist chair. You can read all about that here.
A few reviews have been popping up extolling its virtues and, while not cheap – seemingly no VR immersion gear is not going to cost you, you can check out our Woojar Vest 3 review here, it is nice to know that the quality of the gear coming out, if not exactly impulse buys yet, is changing the game, when it comes to the, er game.
Roto VR, the London-based tech firm behind the Explorer has just raised a useful £2.4 million in its second round of funding and the fact the chair is certified “Made for Meta” means the team has had a stellar few months.
The new investment will support Roto’s next phase of growth as it takes the much anticipated VR experience chair to market, in particular, funds will be used to fulfill the demand for the launch of the VR Explorer by enhancing operational capacity and broadening its market reach.

The investment has come from Pembroke VCT which has contributed £500,000, alongside new and existing angel investors from both the UK and US.

The Roto VR Explorer is available to order now and costs £799 – not a cheap amount but when you consider the price of top-of-the-range gaming chair models from the likes of Secret Lab and Andaseat which are “just” chairs, it is a little more palatable.
