The long-awaited second installment of The Last of Us is coming very soon after the official release date is confirmed.
It has been a long wait since the show’s debut season concluded in 2023.
The title inspired by the video game of the same name will return to HBO and Max on April 13.
In a matter of weeks, the post-apocalyptic chaos will return to our screens, with the second series generally following the script of the second game.
Co-creator Craig Mazin previously detailed how The Last of Us Part II would take several seasons to cover its entirety, meaning season 2 will be shorter than the first.
Seven episodes are lined up, to commence in April.
The setting for the story takes place five years later, with new cast members to be introduced, particularly Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Isabela Merced as Dina.
Both will be key protagonists in the upcoming shows, as they were in the second game.

In the trailer clip, Abby was heard telling Ellie, “It doesn’t matter if you have a code like me. There are just some things everyone agrees are just wrong.”
Dina is also seen dancing with love-rival Ellie and militia leader Isaac Dixon, who is played by Jeffrey Wright.
The stacked cast also comprises Tati Gabrielle of You, Young Mazino from Beef, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘s Catherine O’Hara, Riverdale‘s Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez from Top Gun: Maverick, and Runaways’ Ariela Barer.
