Price of upcoming Gear Fit2 Pro leaked – Get ready to pay a little more

Soon, we will have a new Tizen wearable fitness tracker on the scene, the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro. Evan Blass, a well known tech serial leaker, has today tweeted about the price of the upcoming Gear wearable device. Apparently, we are looking at a price tag of $199.99, which is $20 more than what the previous years Gear Fit2 cost. This is the price that an unnamed big box retailer in the U.S will sell the new gym companion for.

The price increase seems a modest amount considering that you have much improved water resistance, reportedly having an 5-ATM rating with swim tracking, which many of our readers were already requesting. Now, you can more accurately collect and track your swimming exercise statistics and fitness goals.

Just in case you didn’t know, and I certainly didn’t, 5 ATM stands for 5 atmospheres, meaning water resistance at up to a depth of roughly 150 feet. The new water resistance is definitely better suited to serious swimmers opposed to the IP68 rating of the Gear Fit2. IP68 is still good enough for us general swimmer types.

You also get Spotify offline use right out of the box, hopefully, which means that you will not need to have the device paired to your smartphone in order to access the steaming music service. Don’t worry if you don’t have a smartphone with you as the Gear Fit2 Pro will be able to directly connect to your Bluetooth headset.

Another change is a newer round watch-style clasp that is also allegedly being Introduced. We do not know if the Gear Fit2 Pro will replace the original Gear Fit2 at the moment, but by purely looking at the way it has been named I would think it would slide in as an addition to the range, assuming the original Gear Fit2 received a little price drop.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long for the news to drop as it might be announced with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in a couple of days, August 23, in New York, US.
