Yes, that title is a bold statement and one, that, back when the game launched all those years ago would have had me being dragged off to be medicated. Fast forward to now and not only is No Man’s Sky stronger than ever, it is amazing and continues to get more amazing with every single update.
Last year we got the Worlds update which was an update on a planetary scale. Pretty much everything changed for the better, not just the looks but the game just felt more complete.
For the last few days Hello Games head honcho Shaun Murray has been tweeting about gas giants so everybody suspected something was coming and now, as of just now, we have Worlds Part II.

Murray said today, “We can’t wait to show people what we’ve been working on! There’s new solar systems, new planets with more variety, new terrain types, even new Gas Giants, and of course new adventures.
“Across the universe we’re adding billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets, and introducing new biomes and terrains without changing what people already love about the game. It’s now so far beyond what we ever thought was possible when we started out.
“I’ve been working on a new terrain system for a little while now. Terrain is more detailed and far more varied with huge mountains and these massive features. I’m genuinely at my happiest working on this stuff.”
Watch the trailer for Worlds Part II and if you don’t already own NMS and it doesn’t make you want to at least try it out, you are dead inside.
No Man’s Sky has pretty much been installed on my hard drives for 10 years now. I don’t play it all day every day, but it, and Minecraft, are probably the two games I consistently return to year on year, update after update. Seeing Hello Games continually push it forward in these times of such industry uncertainty is amazing really and the fact that every update is free almost beggars belief.
When you think back to the flack it received upon launch we are now literally universes apart from that time. And if things continue to be added as technology increases, it shows the likes of Star Citizen up for what it really is.
