Samsung updated its fitness band line from the Gear Fit 2 to the Gear Fit2 Pro recently at IFA Berlin. While most of the details were already confirmed officially thanks to a temporary slip up by Samsung’s Spanish website, where the product page went live, the final pieces in the puzzle such as the price and availability of the Gear Fit2 Pro was all that Samsung’s IFA event had to offer. Features
The Gear Fit2 Pro has some substantial changes in its software to make it a much better at fitness tracking. Some of the health and fitness related features include- real-time heart rate monitoring, auto activity detection, and premium partnerships with Under Armour and Spotify as well as MapMyRun and Endomondo. Another major feature that comes with the Gear Fit2 Pro thanks to its 5ATM water resistant body is the ability to track water related activities such as Swimming (both surface and underwater). The S-Health app is instantly triggered to track swimming, the Speedo app can do this as well but you will miss out on the real-time heart rate monitoring.
Pricing and availability
Samsung is currently releasing the Gear Fit2 Pro in a phased manner and at the time of writing this post, the wearable fitness tracker is currently live on pre-order in the UK and the US with Samsung even bundling a free U Flex wireless earphones for a limited time in the US. The Gear Fit2 Pro will likely hit more markets before the holiday season begins.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Gear Fit2 Pro is priced at $199.99 in the US and £209 in the UK. So the pricing in your country if and when released could more or less be equivalent to the $200 mark +/- local taxes.
