Need a little cheering up? Check out Steam’s Laughs and Smiles Fest

We all need a little pick-me-up as the new year rumbles into its second month. The holiday season seems like it was years ago, and depending on where you are in the world it’s probably dark, cold and miserable, or if you are at the other side, too hot to go out.

Steam’s new Laughs and Smiles curation event might though be just the tonic we need.

There are some really good games with enticing discounts, although, as it the strange tendency with Steam’s Fests you also get a bunch of games that are not yet available that you can add to your wishlist. Note. Adding games to my Wishlist does not make me Laugh and Smile. Have you any idea of the size of my backlog?

Also, weirdly, survival horror classic Barotrauma is included, and to my recollection that is far from the funniest game I have every played. Beyond that, even VR fans get a look in with the likes of Humans Fall Flat VR.

The new Techno Banter doorman-em-up also looks interesting and I will be checking that one out. Basically you are the doorman at a techno club and have to decide whether its bizarre clientele of people with sheep heads can come in or not. Don’t ask me, I just have to play these things.

Sale organisers, Warsaw-based boutique publisher, Crunching Koalas said, “The event aims to bring together games of all genres that bring a smile and (at the very least) a sensible chuckle to the players that boot them up. By hosting the sale in the harsh middle of winter, the goal is to combat the encroaching and all-encompassing blues by bringing as many of the titular laughs and smiles to players as possible.”

The Laughs and Smile Game Festival will be running all week and you can check it out here.
