20th Century cartoons with all their hilarious slapstick violence are simply the best things ever created. While many of you reading this may never have seen Wile E Coyote running in thin air over a precipice, or Tom getting a frying pan in the face as he runs around a corner chasing Jerry these were the staple of so many kids growing up. What’s wrong with you? It’s all available on the internet.
Even before these “Technicolor” treats we had black and white cartoons, infused with a Jazz score – the most obvious example of which would be something like Steamboat Willie which eventually became Mickey Mouse and, also, a tale for another day, became copyright-free at the end of last year.
So, how about taking that amazing cartoon aesthetic and turning it into a first-person shooter – complete with black-and-white graphics and slapstick shenanigans? I am very definitely in.
Mouse is the game and 2025 is the year this rubber-hose animation-style fun-fest will be getting installed on my PC for sure.
You play as Mouse, a detective in a “noir city mired in chaos, corruption, and vibrant energy, utilizing a diverse arsenal of weapons, power-ups, and explosives to thwart the takeover by corrupt politicians. The game’s playful weaponry and distinctive health display, coupled with enemies behaving like cartoon characters, add a lighthearted twist to traditional FPS gameplay.”
Oh just let us play it already. Check out the trailer and get it wishlisted on Steam immediately.
