SocialFlow, which exited its beta last week, is doing a very New York-esque campaign where people who use social media are sharing their “social media secret weapons” in one-minute video clips.
The campaign is tied into Social Media Week, and you can play along at home: the company is giving away a Kindle Fire to the best strategy shared via Twitter or Facebook by noon on Wednesday. But even if you don’t play along at home, we’ve found the videos a good way to kill some time this morning. They range from the practical to the odd to the downright annoying.
Here are a few of our favorites:
- Distill Media owner Kate Gardiner making a much-needed case for good writing in social media. “if you don’t care about your headlines, if you don’t care about your content, if you don’t care what it says, you’re not engaging your audience.”
- New York City Street Photographer Ricky Powell feeding squirrels while pontificating on Facebook being the next wave of public access television.
- Deep Focus communications manager Joanna Firneno urging brands to act like people. “When you’re a brand, your friends don’t want to hear everything that’s going on with you. They also want to hear what you have to say about what’s going on in the world.”
- DJ Onionz sharing a somewhat overwhelming list of social media platforms he uses. “I have to have my social media rocking at all times…..if I don’t, fuggedaboutit.”
