Despite a controversy at the time of release, Hogwarts Legacy was a fantastic slice of wizarding when it first arrived on the PC. Anybody who had an ounce of love for JK Rowling’s story was treated to the closest thing we have yet had to a decent Harry Potter game. Hoggers really captured the feel of the books and movies in so many ways.
While you get the occasional murmur of an inevitable cash-in sequel, we say inevitable as the game was the best-selling videogame of 2023 – knocking the likes of Call of Duty and GTA off the perch for the time in 15 years, there has been nothing like confirmation of a timeline as yet.
Now, as soon as this week (30th January), publisher Warner Brothers is set to ignite interest in the original game all over again with the launch of the free Creator Kit and downloadable mods.
Steam and Epic Games Store players can download the latest patch to easily access and download available mods directly from the main menu in the game, and those who want to create their own mods can do so with the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit available for free on the Epic Games Store.
CurseForge, one of the world’s largest repository of mods and addons for video games, will be hosting and moderating the Hogwarts Legacy mods. The Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit will support modding new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins. The mods can then be submitted through the CurseForge platform to be published in the game.
Custom content for a game such as Hogwarts Legacy could really help bring the universe alive and it doubtless will not be long before we start seeing some really impressive additions to the game. Along with some fool modding Donald Trump into it.
Everything is explained in the slightly cheesy video above, but if you have enjoyed Hogwarts Legacy at any point and yearned for a little bit more, then it is likely incoming soon.
