Brazilian favorite Dalton “daltonhb” Hobold was victorious at the recent PokerStars Sunday Million Phased tournament. Hobold became the inaugural winner of the event, with the popular weekly contest having been given a re-brand.
The event included multiple phases, known as Day 1s, before concluding on Sunday, February 23. The tournament was a major success, with over 12,000 players helping to form a prize pool of $1,285,800. The action sparked an excellent start of the Sunday Million Season, with Hobold turning a $109 buy-in into $93,042 worth of winnings.

The Brazilian defeated a field of 12,858 players to collect over $93,000. 🏆
Hobold came out on top in a star-studded field, with a total of 1,369 players reaching the final stage of the tournament. Patrick “thebigdog09” Brooks, Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes, and Shawn “Buck21” Buchanan were among those who put runs together and triggered progressive bounties. Seven of the nine finalists won five-figure sums, with Hobold’s compatriots “Pelckito” and “amendoa14” walking away with $8,642 and $7,217, respectively. “Prosperous4” came in 7th position, just behind Romania’s “dekciww”.
“0indexed” won over $26,000 in 5th, while Ukraine’s “banz11” claimed $38,649 after finishing 4th. It was Hobold and “8Sicchers8” who went head-to-head for the biggest prize.
“D5t6y7” becomes Irish Open Online champion
Elsewhere in the world of poker, Brit “d5t6y7” came out on top in the Irish Open Online main event. Worth $200,000, the $215 buy-in event took place on February 23. Featuring 1,633 players, d5t6y7 took home $49,536 following his win. Hobold was once again prominent.
However, the Brazilian could only manage a 7th-place finish this time, winning $6,498 in the process. Other established players competing were Matt “MattStaples” Staples, Pedro “pm_marke” Marques, and Roman “RomeOpro” Romanovsky.
