Recently, Tizen 3.0 was released for the Gear S3 Frontier and Classic as part of the S3 value pack update. This brought it to the same platform version as the Gear Sport, which is one of Samsung’s latest wearable device. Unfortunately, some users experienced poor battery life, which prompted Samsung to release an update to address this issue. Sources close to the situation confirm that this initial update was put on hold as it was a bit “hit and miss” with regards to improving the problem, with some users not experiencing any improvement at all.
Now, Samsung Netherlands has apparently made a statement, to the website Sammobile, that a revised version of the Tizen 3.0 update will now be made available to Gear S3 Frontier and Classic users. We are hoping this new update also includes a revised fix for the battery drain issue. The update is said to be initially released to a small test group of users and then, if all goes well, will be globally rolled out starting early next month.
In the meanwhile, if you have an affected Gear S3, you might want to try factory resetting your device following the S3 value pack update. Some users have reported this has completely resolved their issue. A factory reset is not always thought of as the best solution, but it is worth a try whilst the revised update makes its way to you.
