Gaming-inspired series Secret Level gets the greenlight for a second season

After a solid reception following its debut on December 10th, 2024, the gaming-inspired series Secret Level has been greenlit for a second season by Amazon. Here’s what we know so far:

Season 1 of Secret Level received a pretty decent reception, and whilst the viewer numbers haven’t been dropped yet, Luminate has said that the series was watched for around 155.3 million minutes in the US during its first week, which equates to about 1.4m views, given that the whole series runs for 109 minutes. The animation anthology series, consisting of fifteen 10-20 minute episodes based on various video games, was made by the same creators of the 5-time Emmy-winning series, Love, Death + Robots. The latter has received three seasons thus far with a fourth in the works, though there’s no confirmed release date as of yet.

For Secret Level, there are no confirmed details on what’s in store for the second season yet, but the first season saw some pretty huge gaming collabs including Pac-Man, Spelunky, Dungeons and Dragons, and Warhammer, to name a few. You’ll spot some big voice actors too, with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Laura Bailey, Kevin Hart and Keanu Reeves being amongst the biggest names to star in the series.

Their whole schtick is “producing ground-breaking stories inspired by your favorite games”, so with Season 2 we can definitely expect some more big names in the gaming industry. Fans have already begun wishlisting which games they’d like to see next, with Celeste, The Elder Scrolls, Terraria, Baldur’s Gate 3 and World of Warcraft being name dropped in a Reddit forum.

With the world of video gaming being a vast pit of fun stories and world-building, there’s no telling where Secret Level will go next. And hopefully, given the success of other video game adaptations like Amazon’s Fallout and Netflix’s Arcane, more and more video game IPs will be looking to have their franchises adapted for TV.
