Ahead of the Galaxy Watch 3 Smartwatch’s launch date in July (or earlier), the Galaxy Watch 3 is going through the necessary certification processes. So far the smartwatch has made an appearance on multiple certification agencies pages. Now, it is passing through Bluetooth SIG’s certification. This usually means the release is imminent.
The variants of the Galaxy Watch 3 that have received the certification are the SM-R845U, SM-R845F, SM-R840, SM-R845N, and SM-R8450. These are the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + LTE variants of the 41mm variants of the smartwatch. All of the smartwatches seem to feature Bluetooth 5.0 and LE (Low Energy) connectivity.
It seems that Samsung is skipping the Galaxy Watch 2 for some unknown reason. Perhaps Samsung is giving it a 3 to make it seem better and newer than the Galaxy Watch Active2. Perhaps because the Galaxy Watch 2 could have got released last year but it didn’t make an appearance – we won’t really know for sure.
A Rundown of the Galaxy Watch 3
The upcoming smartwatch will come in two sizes – the 41mm and 45mm variants. They will have a 1.2-inch and 1.4-inch circular screens, respectively. The screen will have Gorilla Glass DX to protect it as well as 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. Additionally, the smartwatch will have Tizen OS 5.5 out of the box.
When it comes to the materials of the smartwatch – we know that it is going to come in Titanium. Titanium, whilst being a good material for smart devices to be made of, is fairly expensive. So, we can expect this particular variant to come with a heavier price tag.
The smartwatch will come with three resistance ratings. IP68 for dust, 5ATM for water as well as a MIL-STD-810G compliant design. So, you don’t have to worry too much about particles near your device. The 5ATM rating means that you can go under 50 meters of water for about 10 minutes before the smartwatch gets damaged. The military standard means that the average user doesn’t have to worry about dropping the device too much.
The Galaxy Watch 3 will have a heart-rate monitor, an ECG (electrocardiogram) and sleep tracking. Something that many users may be happy about is the return of the physical bezel. After two smartwatches having no physical bezel, it has made a reappearance. The 41mm variant of the Galaxy Watch 3 will have a 247mAh battery whereas the 45mm variant will have a 340mAh battery.
