More Next Galaxy Watch 2 Specs revealed in FCC Document

After just receiving the 3C certification from China, Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch was spotted in an FCC document. The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) is another regulatory agency but for the United States.

In the FCC document, the model numbers listed were SM-R845 and SM-R855. These model numbers are for the LTE variants of the smartwatch. The Wi-Fi-only models, SM-R840 and SM-R850, that we have previously seen haven’t appeared yet.

Additionally, thanks to a sketch in the FCC document, a circular design for the smartwatch is confirmed. As well as this, it is revealed that the larger variant will have a 45mm stainless steel case.

Gorilla Glass DX will be used on the smartwatch. When it comes to resistance, the smartwatch has a water resistance rating of 5ATM. This means that the device can handle being 50 meters in depth for about 10 minutes – so you’re good for a swim. As well as this, the smartwatch was given a MIL-STD-810 certification, also known as a military standard. So. you don’t have to worry about dropping the device too much.

When it comes to connectivity, we now know that the smartwatch will have GPS and LTE connectivity.

A Clue to the Smartwatches Name Could be in the FCC Document

On the backside of the upcoming smartwatch suggests that the device may be called the Galaxy Watch. However, on the Galaxy Watch Active2, there is also a ‘Galaxy Watch’ label. So there is still no guarantee whether the smartwatch will be called the Galaxy Watch 2 or Galaxy Watch Active 3.

The back of the smartwatch resembles the Galaxy Watch Active2 quite a bit. However, we can’t see the front to see whether the smartwatch will have a Touch Bezel or physical one. The Galaxy Watch has a physical bezel whereas the Galaxy Watch Actives have a Touch Bezel – so the bezel could be a defining feature.
