Samsung is apparently working on the successor to the Galaxy Watch according to information obtained by Sammobile. We have speculation that the upcoming device may have a 5G variant for the US as well with model numbers SM-R827 and SM-R837. Like the previous generation we have models for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth SM-R820 and SM-R830 and for 4G/LTE variants SM-R825 and SM-R835.
What will the smartwatch be called? Most likely the Galaxy Watch 2, which seems like the best name for Samsung to call it. There will be two models, along the same lines as the Galaxy Watch, but it remains to be seen if Samsung will have the same 42mm and 46mm sizes.
There is no news at the moment if Samsung will keep its signature (and patented) rotating bezel on the Galaxy Watch 2 – which it omitted from the Galaxy Watch Active. The bezel is a distinguishing feature that is also very practical. This feature makes the watch stand out from the crowd, nothing in the Wear OS or Apple Watch stable have this.
There is news that we will have 4GB of internal storage, which is the same as other Samsung Galaxy watches. The only other bit of Information is that we will have colour options of black, silver, and gold.
When will the Galaxy Watch 2 be released?
The Galaxy Watch was officially launched in August 2018 alongside the Samsung Note 9. It is hoped that the Galaxy Watch 2 will launch alongside the Note 10. If this happens, we could see the device going on sale with a October/November 2019 release date.
