Fortnite leak suggests Splinter Cell will be reborn after 12 years as a couple of skins and a back bling

Many people were hoping that Ubisoft was set to announce a new Splinter Cell game at last year’s end-of-year Game Awards jamboree but to no avail. It has been more than a decade since we last had a new entry in the iconic Tom Clancy franchise and it would certainly seem that that apple is now ripe for being picked and it may well be that the rumors of a Splinter Cell revival are correct, at least partially as it looks as as though we may get to don those green night vision goggles once more – albeit as a skin in, you guessed it, Fortnite.

Much to the annoyance of many a fan of the OG franchise, if rumors are true Ubisoft is collabbing with Epic and Fortnite to bring Splinter Cell into the Battle Royale. The leak has been circulating in minor Fortnite circles for a few days but has now been given extra credence by prominent Fortnite leaker Shiina who posted on X saying, A Splinter Cell collaboration is rumored to be coming to Fortnite.“

It’s probably fair to say it’s a bit of an obscure tie-in unless there are plans for something else Splinter Cell in the pipeline. Many Fortnite players will never have played a Splinter Cell game let alone be bothered about purchasing a premium skin, so if it does happen, and it certainly looks like it might, it is a bit of a strange one.

Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher character made his name as a stealth operative in the games so hopefully there will be more to the addition in Fortnite than just the traditional look of the character. We wouldn’t want Fisher’s final video game appearance to be frantically building trying to protect himself from being shot by a banana.

These are the times we live in folks.
