If you are of a certain vintage you may well have played, or at least heard of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis from Lucasarts. If you are on TikTok all day, maybe not. Back in the day when wholesome (and amazing adventures) such as The Secret of Monkey Island were a thing – we are talking 1992 here kids – Lucasfilm/Disney released a couple of Indiana Jones games at the height of the franchise’s popularity. They were both called the same, although one had a subtitle of The Adventure Game. You don’t want that one. The one you have to play is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantic – the point-and-click version.
We were in a time period too where, depending on the type of soundcard you had in your PC (remember them) directly affected what the music was like. If you had a Soundblaster you would get speech. A Roland MIDI card would bring you orchestral music like you heard in the movies. Ah, Halycon days, especially if you had both.
If you are looking to Indy up while you wait for the new Xbox and PC exclusive Indy game and aren’t intending to play it early, may I humbly suggest you head over to GoG and push $6 their way – ooh actually it’s only $2 on Steam so you do you and immerse yourself in the height of point and click adventure from the 90s in this absolute classic mix of Hollywood and videogame.
These days, with the playing around with the installer clever people have done, the game works on Mac, Linux, and Windows 10/11 and will only take up 164MB (MB!) on your hard drive – that’s about three Black Friday junk emails, so we are sure you can squeeze it on there somewhere.
