Leading global wearables brand, Fitbit, has announced the availability of Santander Bank on Fitbit Pay for UK users. The service is now available for both of the company’s Fitbit Pay compatible smartwatches, the Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa. Santander becomes the fourth British bank to support Fitbit Pay.
Fitbit Pay for Santander UK users
The latest partnership enables the Ionic and Versa users, who bank with Santander UK, make contactless payments using the watches. You can now make secure payments on the go directly from your wrist, without needing a phone nearby. Compatibility applies to all personal and business Santander debit and credit card users, both MasterCard and Visa, excluding cash-only ATM cards, Visa top-up debit cards and Business Visa Electron.

This new method complements our existing mobile payment solutions and shows our commitment to improving the digital options available to our customers,” said Matt Hall, Director of Banking and Unsecured Credit at Santander UK, confirming the new partnership.
The addition of Santander to the Fitbit Pay is a big win for Fitbit. Santander is only the fourth bank to support the platform. The other three financial services providers in the UK to support Fitbit Pay are boon. by Wirecard, Danske Bank and Starling Bank. Fitbit Pay, meanwhile, has a much greater presence in the US, with over 30 supported banks.
Along with Santander, Fitbit has also partnered up with Starbucks UK. Starbucks Card holders can now pay for their coffee and food, directly from their wrist. Just add the 16-digit Starbucks membership card number into the app, and pay for your morning coffee right from your wrist.
Fitbit has also announced that it has partnered with British Airways to bring the British Airways app to Fitbit OS 2.0. You can get flight information, status and your boarding pass right on your wrist, once it becomes available in May.
