Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s upcoming game which was launched with a four-and-a-half-minute cinematic trailer at The Game Awards 2024. The trailer is packed full of easter eggs that fans are deciphering and debating.
The hot topic this week is a QR code that can be seen on a document on Jordan’s (seemingly the main character) conspiracy pin board. There are varying reports on what is returned when the code is scanned. An Intergalactic news fan account on X first reported that it returned the number ‘66260600410’ but later reported that they and others were more consistently getting the number ‘66260700410’. When we tried at ReadWrite, we could not enhance the picture enough to get a scannable QR code, so we couldn’t independently verify the results.
What does the Intergalactic trailer QR code mean?
There are two main theories currently being speculated on by fans. The first is that the first half of the numbers ‘6626’ refer to a possible June 6, 2026 release date. However, if this is the case, there’s no clear direction as to what the second half of the numbers, ‘0700410′, could mean. In addition, there has been a lot of speculation about a 2027 release date that fans have extracted from a handful of other numbers that appear in the video, so this would be counter to that. Of course, the sensible thing to counter either of these theories is that if Naughty Dog had a release window in mind, they would have put it in the trailer explicitly to excite fans even more.
The second, most likely (in our opinion) is that it’s just an easter egg. Planck’s Constant is a fundamental physical constant that is extremely important to quantum physics and the study of energy. As recently as the late 2010s it was updated slightly thanks to improved sophisticated measuring capabilities, but when it was discovered in 1985, it was expressed as ‘6.62607004*10^-34’.
While it would be great if Naughty Dog was secretly telling us the game would be released in 2026, it seems more likely that the Intergalactic trailer QR code is simply a good, old-fashioned easter egg as a nod to the space fans out there. The trailer is full of world-building and fun details for fans to find, this is likely just one of them.
