Controversial Twitch streamer Asmongold has incurred the wrath of X and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. The online drama comes as Musk was allegedly exposed by players for paying for people to play his games.
Musk has gone live with Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2, showing off his high-level accounts. However, Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) is a fairly complex game towards the end and would need some sort of expertise at the level Musk was supposed to be at.
In the stream, Musk seemed clueless about certain aspects of PoE2, which were highlighted by Quin69, a popular Path of Exile streamer. His Diablo 4 account also raised questions, such as when he’d find the time to become one of the best players in the world.
Zack Hoyt, the real name of Asmongold, also spotted Musk’s inability to properly play PoE2 at a high level. In retaliation, Musk removed Hoyt’s verification and leaked direct messages between the two.

However, the leaked messages didn’t have Musk’s desired effect. The messages leaked were about how Hoyt would see if his hired editors would want to run a separate account for something. Musk inferred that these editors were actually his managers.
Community Notes have corrected Musk, who said that Asmongold has a “boss”.

Following this, Musk has said that Asmongold isn’t “good at video games”, which Hoyt has responded to. Hoyt seemingly joked on X that “Leaking my [direct messages] is one thing but this absolutely uncalled for.”

Who is Asmongold?
Asmongold is a reaction content creator known for being invested in live service games and the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft. In October, Asmongold was banned temporarily from Twitch for racist remarks regarding Palestinians.
He has also drummed up controversy elsewhere. His reaction-style content often draws viewers away from the original video, with Hoyt’s content generating millions of views off of someone else’s work.
Hoyt has also been called out for fostering a community that espouses similar views to himself. Elsewhere, he has been lambasted for living in squalor.
