Dune, both in book or movie form is known for being set in the desert. The planet Arrakis may well be a desert planet, but hey, deserts can be pretty too, and this latest video from Funcom highlighting the gorgeous biome in the upcoming Dune Awakening will get people more excited for the game’s launch when it eventually turns up.
With its haunting soundtrack, the three-minute showcase, which you can watch for yourself below, shows off some of the many unique locations to be found in the game as you rise from survival to greatness and challenge the power of the Imperium.
Dune Awakening will have you, “Survive the sandworm, craft your ornithopter, build a fortress, and ascend to power on an open world Arrakis shared with hundreds of other players.”
Speaking of the ornithopter, much of the video is a fly around in the insect-inspired craft as it weaves its way through the varied terrain. We even get a brief look at what Dune: Awakening will look like at night.
Anybody who has played Conan: Exiles is already excited for this as that was one of the examples of the survival genre we have seen to date, and coming from the same stable, hope are very high for this.
Release date at the moment, for PC at least, is still pencilled in for “Early 2025”, and this is reaffirmed at the end of the above video. PlayStation and Xbox players will have to wait though as smaller text delivers the sad news that the release date for those two formats is yet to be announced.
You can wishlist Dune: Awakening on Steam while you wait. Hopefully we won’t wither away in the desert heat waiting for it’s arrival.
