We are all agreed that mounts are cool in Diablo IV right? With a good set of horse armor on your steed, all in Santuary will bow before your behoofed horsey. Well, imagine if you could now take a famous mount from Blizzard’s other huge IP, World of Warcraft, and ride it into Helltide after Helltide. And all for the paltry amount of $25.
Yes, folks we are back to selling horse armor – and, rather than giving players the opportunity to obtain one of gaming’s iconic steeds by playing the game, it looks as though it is wallet time.
Is the Born of the Stars Bundle worth it?
Well first, what is it – the Born of the Stars bundle is part of Diablo 4’s cross-game promotion with World of Warcraft’s upcoming The War Within expansion. Part of the bundle is the Celestial Steed – often referred to as the Sparklepony by WoW players.
As you can see from the images, the Sparklepony is a cool-looking beast. But do you really have to pay for it? Surely you can get it in game?
Unfortunately not. The Celestial Steed comes as part of the bundle alongside the Celestial Firmament horse armor and mount trophies the Sphere of Azeroth and Starlight Banner. It all looks great but it’s soooo expensive with no way of earning it in game without paying for it.
You can get the mount itself for only 1,900 Plat but the bundle only costs (only!) 2,500 which equates, as we said to about $25 in real-world dollars.
The mount offers no in-game advantage obviously and is purely cosmetic. It will doubtless sell and if you want to purchase it all you need to do is go to the item shop and exchange your long credit card number for a see-through game horse.
Without being too cynical though you could probably put that $25 to use on another great game such as Warsim – and still have a load left over for snack while you play.
